Courses and Events
Every year we plan a programme of varied learning – retreats, evening events, day courses, pilgrimages, short courses and residential events. Our annual leaflet gives details of the year’s programme along with information about how to plan a visit to Mirfield. New learning opportunities are, however, often added as the year moves on; this website provides details of all events as they emerge.
Mirfield Centre and Partnerships
The Mirfield Centre is a significant contributor within the Yorkshire Regional Partnership, to furthering a vision for learning at the heart of discipleship. Bringing together the spiritual wisdom and resources of the Community and College of the Resurrection, Yorkshire Ministry Course, Leeds Diocesan School of Ministry, and the wider church, the Centre creates opportunities for ordinands, clergy and lay Christians to learn together.
We are also a base for a diocesan resources centres (a library of resources for adult Christian learners) and we are pleased to host a variety of diocesan, regional and national meetings and conferences. Other educational organizations and institutions are increasingly seeking to use our site and facilities, bringing staff teams together for days of reflection, learning, bonding and planning.
People often tell us how much they appreciate the Mirfield Centre’s programme, particularly as it happens, here at Mirfield, alongside a monastic community. They appreciate the reflective space and place that Mirfield provides and is. They enjoy the varied programme of events, valuing not only the learning together, and the fellowship of sharing good food, but also the opportunity to pray alongside the brethren as part of a day event or the quietness of Compline at the close of an evening session. Education for Discipleship as it happens here – out of the rootedness of all that Mirfield is – undoubtedly enriches the varied opportunities for learning within our Yorkshire region.
Our link with Christians learning across Yorkshire
The Centre’s Director is also a member of CLAY- Christians learning across Yorkshire – an ecumenical group of trainers and educators who plan events together (claycourses.org.uk). CLAY was ‘ahead of the game’ in discerning the importance of ecumenical learning opportunities within the region; details of events planned either jointly or individually by member organisations can be found both on the website and in twice-yearly leaflets.
We welcome you to come to CR and to share in our life. Some come regularly to talk with a brother, others spend a day or two experiencing this very different environment. Individuals and groups come on retreat and pilgrimage, share in the teaching and courses we offer and join us in worship and meals.
